The 3 yes's and 3 no's of skin recovery! Lesson 2: Environment

After going over the kind of diet that is helpful for skin recovery (hyperlink to "The 3 yes's and 3 no's of skin resilience! Lesson 1: Diet''), let's move on to the kind of environment that we should provide the skin for it to repair itself.

The 3 Yes's :

1. Keep wounds dry :
Wipe off sweat as soon as possible and wear good-quality clothing made of 100% cotton. Avoid materials that are not breathable. Don't wear thick clothing or use heavy blankets/duvets so that you won't feel stuffy or itchy.

2. Maintain an appropriate amount of humidity :
Wounds can become itchy easily if the weather is too dry or too humid. Maintain a humidity level of 50-65% indoors and avoid excessive exposure to sunlight in summer.

3. Keep your bedding clean :
Since wounds come into contact with bedding a lot while you sleep, it is necessary to change pillowcases, sheets, and duvet covers regularly.

The 3 No's :

1. Do not have wounds come into contact with foreign objects :
If there is a foreign object in the wound, it will easily lead to bacterial infection and delay healing time.

2. Do not apply too much tension :
Moving the body part with the wound too much will make it difficult for the wound to heal.

3. Reduce the use of chemical substances :
Residual cleaning agents from showering, bathing and doing the laundry will cause irritation, so be sure rinse thoroughly and reduce the use of softeners with too many additives.
